Emmerdale viewers issue plea to producers over Charity after 'pathetic' episode

Emmerdale viewers have hit out at producers following tonight's episode.

On the one hand, some fans think the show went too far in its treatment of Charity, but others feel the episode was lacking in drama.

In the fallout to last night's dramatic episode, which saw Noah sentenced to three months in jail for stalking Chloe, many viewers were likely expecting an action-packed programme.

But not everyone was happy with the direction the episode took. While viewers saw other villagers going on with their days - including Will's continued efforts to find answers about Jamie - much of the drama revolved around Charity.

Reeling from her son's imprisonment, she feared she had failed her family. "I need to do better," she said, during one emotional exchange. But her troubles did not stop there, with an argument brewing between Charity and Sarah. Realising Sarah was lying to her about her evening plans, when she meant to secretly go to a party, Charity tried to issue some motherly advice.

But for a clearly hurt Sarah, whose 17th birthday had gone forgotten the day before, this was too much. She lashed out, telling her she could not look after her sometimes and not others, branding her a "nightmare".

The interaction drove several fans to express sympathy for the struggling mum. @VanityPending wrote: "I don’t know how to feel about that episode to be honest, I’m very sad it’s just another storyline to kick Charity down and have them all hate her again! Just change the bloody narrative please."

@Jamal06122771 also appeared to come to Charity's defence. He said: "Sarah has a go at Charity for not being there for her, especially after forgetting her birthday. Wonder if she got a Birthday card or present, from her actual parents?"

@AVFCLil agreed Charity should not have been at the forefront of the episode, though for a different reason. She felt another character should have been the focus. She tweeted: "As much as I love Charity this storyline should not be about her. It should be about Chloe. Chloe was the victim. I would have loved to have seen the aftermath for her. Showing how this can impact someone. This “bad mom Charity” stuff is a bore now."

Several fans similarly felt tonight's storylines were lacking, with some suggesting nothing of note happened in the episode.

@CaroleAnn1982 said: "Well that was a strange, nothing happened, episode." @JordanPhelps21 was also unimpressed. She wrote: "What a pathetic episode!"
