Emmerdale viewers furious over plans to kill off favourite character

Emmerdale viewers are still in disbelief and shock that producers are "killing off" one of the soap's most popular characters.

Recent scenes show Faith Dingle's heartbreaking journey as she battles cancer once again. Faith, played by Sally Dexter, was told that chemotherapy is no longer working and she decides to stop treatment altogether.

She now spends what time she has left to reconnect with her children who struggle to come to terms with the situation. During tonight's episode she continued to try and rebuild her relationship with son Cain, prompting many emotional responses from viewers.

Many still can't quite belief the 62-year-old actress is leaving the show, while others have called the decision to "kill off" her character "the biggest mistake ever".

One fan wrote on social media: "Out of all the characters they could have got rid of its Faith. Why? Faith is a lovely Character. Why not Charles? Ethan? Al? Not Fair."

Jordan Phelps tweeted: "I still can’t believe that Emmerdale are killing Faith off. Such a huge mistake. She brings the humour and banter which ED lacks at the moment."

Ryan commented: "Faith. I'm so sad that Emmerdale are killing her off. Biggest mistake they could ever make."

Grace said: "I’m so sad I'm gonna miss faith so much."

Sally recently opened up about the emotional upcoming exit and reportedly said her final scenes have been "‘tough" to film. She said while she hasn't seen the scripts for Faith's death yet, she was hopeful "it's as positive as it can be".

She said in an interview: "This isn't just a story about cancer, it's a wider story about family. That great thing about death is the thing that happens before it, that thing called life, and all the love that goes with it.

"I'd love it if everyone watching had a little bottle of gin, to toast her.”

Meanwhile, fans were delighted to see Manpreet Sharma return to the screen tonight.

Pete Leo wrote: "It's good to see Meena's big sis Manpreet has returned to the village it would have been nice if her daughter Alesha came back with her as well."

Michelle said: "Manpreet is back yess. My fave character returns."

And Ryan said: "Welcome back Manpreet."
