Mark Charnock and Zoë Henry said they both wanted more family-orientated storylines for their characters.
Another huge Emmerdale wedding is just around the corner and in November the show will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. Since the show aired, every storyline under the sun has been touched on, from murder and storms to heartache and family issues.
Two of the show's longest-running characters, Marlon and Rhona, have been handed incredible parts but their actors admit there are still some scripts they'd love to see happen. Speaking to the Liverpool Echo and other journalists, they shared what they want to see for their characters in the future.

Rhona Goskirk actress Zoë Henry said: "I did always wonder if they'd bring any family in and they have done with Mary [Goskirk] who we agree has been an amazing addition so that's nice."
Marlon Dingle actor Marck Charnock added: "Mary coming in years ago is something I hoped they might bring in [for me.] We've never really met Marlon's mum. She's talked about in the sense I've said 'I swear on my mother's grave' but we don't really know about his mum.
"We know who his dad was, Albert Dingle, who was not the tallest person and I think it'd be really funny to bring on this towering woman as my mother."
The Liverpool Echo asked the actors if there were any stories they wished were written for them to which Mark added: "It's nice to have your own stories but it's really nice to be in other people's as well. So it's never got boring, you're always a part of something and I think if you start second guessing what they might do or wishing what they might do you end up being frustrated or disappointed.
"What's brilliant about it is everything is a surprise so you don't need to have those thoughts really."
