Emmerdale actress Zoe Henry said she didn't want to share a surname with real husband Jeff Hordley

Emmerdale star, Zoe Henry, reveals she didn't want be a Dingle because of her real husband Jeff Hordley ahead of her character's upcoming wedding to Marlon Dingle.

The actor, who plays, Rhona Goskirk said she didn't want to share the same on-screen surname as her other half, who plays Cain Dingle.

Rhona is set to tie the knot with her on-screen fiancé Marlon Dingle, in emotional scenes due to air next Thursday, following a long and rocky road for the pair.

Marlon, played by actor Mark Charnock, has been in a wheelchair since suffering a tragic stroke earlier this year but, in moving scenes, he battles to get to his feet to say his vows.

Actors Mark and Zoe said filming the emotional scenes reduced them to tears but the wedding marked a major pinnacle moment in Marlon's recovery and provided some much needed light at the end of the tunnel for the pair.

However, while she is willing to take her beau in sickness and in health, there is one thing that actor Zoe put her foot down with and that was her on-screen persona Rhona having Dingle as a surname.

Zoe Henry, 48, who plays Rhona, said: "Rhona has always been chasing love, the difference with her relationship with Marlon is that they have already defeated so many things now, they have history, a rich soil.

"They also have Leo, who has down syndrome, so he ties them together and will do forever more. I don’t want to have the surname in the show as what my real husband has (Jeff Hordley who plays Cain Dingle).

Speaking of Rhona's previous marriages, Zoe said: "My wish has come true as she (Rhona) doesn’t become a Dingle. I thought long-and-hard about this because she’s never changed her name and she’s always been a Goskirk and Leo is a Goskirk.

“I like the fact she never changed her name to Kirk or to Harris. I don’t mind a little Dingle stuff but not too much. No welly drinking or that nonsense.”
