Emmerdale star Karene Peters has quit the ITV soap after just one year.
The actress - who plays Naomi Walters on the show - is reportedly leaving her role in the coming weeks and is preparing to film her final scenes. She joined the show last year as Charles Anderson's long lost daughter.
Naomi has recently split from boyfriend Nate, but seems to be fully rekindled with her family despite all the drama that happened with villain Alex, where he was caught with drugs by none other than her father Charles.
Not much is known about the exit storyline for Naomi but she won't be killed off, as the door is being left open for the actress.
It is believed the actress is leaving to pursue different roles.
A source told The Sun: "Karene’s loved her time on the soap but it is time for her to go. Being on Emmerdale was a dream but she became an actor to play different roles and that’s exactly what she wants to do.
"The door isn’t being closed on Naomi so she could always make a return down the line."
A spokesperson for the ITV soap has been contacted by The Mirror.
It comes as the family welcome a new arrival to the Dales - in the form of Charles' mother Claudette, played by Flo Wilson.
Claudette is described by bosses as a "force to be reckoned with and totally unafraid to speak her mind". Her love for Charles is evident, and she is clearly proud of his position as a vicar as well as her grandson Ethan's career in the legal profession.
However, Charles is less happy about his mother's arrival and finds her quite overbearing, but what brings her back to the Dales, and what secrets could she be hiding - and will the villagers find out she isn't to be messed with?
Executive producer Jane Hudson teased of what's to come with the storyline: "We are delighted to welcome Flo Wilson to the cast of Emmerdale. Her talent and experience will bring a new dimension to the show, and we can't wait for viewers to see her in action. She's certainly going to ruffle feathers in the Anderson household."
