Emmerdale star Lucy Pargeter’s breakup and life as a single mum

Emmerdale star Lucy Pargeter is best known for her role as feisty local businesswoman Chas Dingle on the long running ITV soap.

She is instantly recognisable for the role she has played for almost two decades.

Chas has been at the centre of several hard-hitting storylines during her time in the Dales from initially joining the show as a stripper when she was hired for her cousin's stag do (yes, really), to later becoming joint landlady of The Woolpack.

Chas has also had her fair share of turbulent relationships from her volatile marriage to Carl King, her on-and-off again romance with vet Paddy Kirk and her upcoming affair with shady man Al Chapman.

However, in her own life the 45-year-old actress was in a long term relationship for her former partner Rudi Coleano for 12 years.

The former couple, who share three daughters – Lola, 16, and twins Missy and Betsy, 5, issued a statement confirming they had ended their long-term romance in 2019.

The statement read: “Lucy Pargeter has confirmed she has separated from her long-term partner, Rudi Coleano, and, while no longer together, their main priority is raising their three daughters.”

Despite their long engagement which lasted for more than a decade, Lucy and Rudi never got round to getting married – even though the actress proposed just a fortnight after they met.

But they did come close in 2012, with Lucy revealing at the time: "We were in Dubai about a month ago and we said: 'Sod it, while we're here, let's do it'. Then I thought all our mates would be like, 'Oh cheers, thanks for the invite'."

The mum-of-three recently opened up about her special relationship with co-star Emma Atkins, who has played Chas' cousin Charity Dingle for almost 20 years.

The actresses who have a mutual understanding of juggling motherhood and a busy work schedule, jointly manage childcare for their children.

As their children go to the same school they often help each other out by taking it in turns to do the school run.

The Charity Dingle star said: "We’re each other’s rock, there’s an innate trust, an authenticity there. We make each other laugh, and we’ve never not enjoyed working together.”
