Emmerdale stars Rosie Bentham and Lewis Cope have hinted there could be more to newcomer Nicky than it seems, with an identity twist already teased.
Actor Lewis admitted he could be "too good to be true" and refused to rule out any secrets coming to light, as soap boss Jane Hudson did the same.
Lewis debuts on the ITV soap in the coming weeks as newcomer Nicky, who is chosen to be the nanny at Home Farm.
Scenes this month will show Rosie's character Gabby Thomas and Dawn Taylor interviewing candidates to look after their children, while they work.
After some hopefuls fail to make the cut, Gabby is instantly taken with newcomer Nicky and is thrilled when she gets to offer him the job to care for baby Thomas at Home Farm.
Dawn is not so convinced though, and it takes her a while to get on board with him looking after her young children Clemmie and Lucas.
But seeing him with the children, Dawn's concern eases and she agrees Nicky is right for the role.
But Gabby could end up regretting this if he does end up having something to hide, as teased by Lewis and producer Jane.
Speaking to The Mirror and other press, Rosie and Lewis spoke about the new storyline and Lewis hinted there was more on the way.
Asked if Nicky had any dark secrets, he spilled: "At the moment he's a lovely person, and there's nothing to say [otherwise].... he kind of fits the bill. He is almost too good to be true though, but we'll have to wait and see."
With it hinted more will come out about him later down the line, he then said when asked about any possible secret links to other villagers: "Nothing has come through yet... but it's a soap."
Meanwhile, boss Jane also hinted something was to come out of his arrival as she hinted he was hiding something after all.
Jane told us: "We've also got Home Farm and a new actor, Lewis Cope, the nanny at Home Farm.
"I think this is the first time Home Farm has had a nanny. He's a very good looking nanny who catches the eye of Gabby the minute he walks in.
"There's lots of fun in store for Nicky and Gabby as we watch their fledgling romance and like any good story, there will be a few reveals along the way."
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
