Emmerdale star Gemma Oaten has revealed she lost all of her top teeth after battling an eating disorder for more than decade.
The actress, 38, who played Rachel Breckle in the ITV soap, has suffered from bulimia and anorexia, which caused irreparable damage to her enamel.
Thankfully, she's now had 'life-changing' dentistry, which she showed off today on GB News with Eamonn Holmes and Isabel Webster.
Sharing a pic of her new gleaming white smile, she tweeted: "Finally after 17 years. I have my smile back! Thank you so much for your support @GBNEWS and to @EamonnHolmes @IsabelWebster_ you were amazing & will have helped me give a voice to so many affected by #eatingdisorders If you need support we at @SeedSupportUK are here."
Gemma opened up about the devastating impact bulimia had on her teeth, after the acid and bile began to erode them.
She admitted: "To think that [you could lose your teeth] is not something you even want to contemplate.
"An eating disorder is very manipulative and makes you feel ashamed.
"I felt disgusting and I was made to feel disgusting by my dentist when I was younger after the acid eroded my teeth."
Luckily, Gemma has recently been treated by Dr Harry Davies and shared a video of herself seeing her teeth for the first time.
As she began to cry both in the video and the studio, the actress told Eamonn she felt like she's now got a "real chance of moving forward".
Dr Harry also shared a pic of Gemma's transformation on Instagram with the caption: "This wonderful patient had sadly suffered throughout her whole life with severe anorexia and bulimia.
"Eating disorders have a devastating effect on dental health and can often lead to young patients needing extensive treatment to help restore function and aesthetics.
"Due to multiple failing root canals, decay under existing crowns and broken roots throughout the upper arch, my team and I placed 6 implants and Restored with an immediate bridge. @gemma.oaten thank you for trusting me with your smile. I’m delighted to see how it has changed your life!"
Gemma replied: "You're incredible Harry! You all are. Thank you for giving me a chance your compassion will lead the way for so many. What a journey!! Couldn't have done this without you as a professional it also as the human being with the heart you have!! Xx"
