Emmerdale's Zoe Henry unveils career past as Rhona prepares to tie knot with Marlon

Emmerdale's Zoe Henry has revealed how she used experience from her previous career in a key storyline.

The soap star is renowned for her portrayal of Rhona Ghoskirk in the ITV show. Rhona has been through a turbulent period in the soap over recent months since her fiancé, Marlon Dingle, suffered a stroke.

The two are set to enjoy an upturn in fortune tonight as they finally tie the knot after a difficult few months. Zoe appeared on today's edition of Lorraine to discuss the special wedding episode.

Thursday's edition of the chat show was hosted by Ranvir Singh and Zoe told the soap star how her past career as a careworker aided her performance as she supported Marlon through his recovery.

She said: "I was a carer for a long time so I have a little experience of wheelchairs and hoists so I was able to bring that to set. It's been a really important story to tell and I feel really proud that Emmerdale has done it really well and I think that's down to the research team."

Away from the fictional Yorkshire village, Zoe is married to co-star Jeff Hordley, who plays Cain Dingle. The two first met in drama school in 1994 and have been in a relationship ever since. Cain is present in the church when Rhona and Marlon tie the knot, but Zoe told the ECHO in an exclusive interview that the experience did not feel strange.

She said: "It wasn't the first time because I married Paddy in front of him as well, but let's not go on about that. It is our day job. I know it sounds like I'm pedestrianising it.

"We travelled in together, we travelled home together. We spoke about the allotment on the way home. Jeff is very nonplussed about it so it was very casual."
