Emmerdale confirmed Nicky's real reasons for being with Gabby Thomas on Thursday night, as his secret link to another villager finally came to light.
Nicky was confirmed to be the son of Caleb Miligan, with the pair of them teaming up against Kim Tate.
It was revealed that Caleb had lost all his money, and that they were using Gabby and Kim to get their hands on Home Farm and Kim's fortune.
Their reasons became clear at the end of the episode, as it was revealed that Caleb is the secret son of Kim's ex-husband Frank Tate - who originally owned Home Farm, and who her fortune belonged to.
Kim allowed Frank to die and walked away after he suffered a heart attack on the ITV soap more than 25 years ago.
Now, it seems Nicky and dad Caleb have returned for what is theirs - using Gabby in the process.
Nicky was cruel about his new fiancée, mocking her before revealing he was using her to get closer to Kim and no doubt her money assets.
He confirmed his dad had lost their money and that his mum was on the brink of losing her home as a result.
Making it clear he did not love Gabby and was using her to get what he wanted, he told Caleb he had "done his bit".
Joking she was his "beautiful bride" he shared he had no intention of having a future with her after managing to convince her to marry him.
He said: "I've done my bit with the little princess... well there's a ring on it, and I taught myself not to throw up every time she does that puppy thing with her eyes, what more do you want?"
Caleb warned his son to "be nice" to Gabby, not liking the way he was speaking about the young mum, to which he said: "I am being."
He then told his dad to hurry up with his plan and get his hands on the money, before "Gabby was putting his pipe and slippers out".
Viewers saw a dark side to Nicky as he mocked his partner and made it clear he was simply using her and faking his love for her.
But will he end up slipping up with his act, revealing the truth to Kim or Gabby?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
