Emmerdale's Nicky could face prison as actor shares 'massive regret' after Caleb attack

Emmerdale viewers were left stunned after Nicky Milligan confessed to the attack and attempted murder on his dad Caleb Milligan.

Lewis Cope, who plays Nicky, admits that he has high hopes for the future of his character and teased that he could end up in prison following the attack. It's unclear if Caleb will survive the attack as he lays in hospital, but Lewis has hopes the father and son duo will be able to repair their relationship.

Speaking to Daily Star, the soap newcomer said: "I think from the moment he pushed Caleb he felt massive regret but also a mix of relief because he's felt as though his dad has betrayed him for so long. He still loves his dad and it would be tragic if he was to die.

"If they find out it's Nicky he could go to prison but I think if they didn't find out there could be relief there as well."

He continued: "I think it's definitely redeemable because the lies are not Nicky's lies, they've been fed to him by his dad."

Nicky has now been revealed as Caleb's attacker, but it rises the question whether he will come clean or let someone else take the fall. "I did actually know Nicky was going to be the culprit. I was excited to see how it was going to be shot," Lewis said.

"We haven't learned a massive amount of Nicky's background but I don't think he's a massively aggressive person. I think everyone has got the capacity, depending on the situation they're in, to do anything. Maybe he could do it again."

Despite Nicky trying to bump him off, Lewis hopes that Caleb will be able to build a father and son bond with him in the future.

He explained: "I'd like to think they could resolve it but probably from Caleb's part Nicky has not only messed up his whole plan of getting Home Farm and some money back but he's also tried to kill him. So there's a mountain to climb before he can forgive me, if he survives."

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
