Corrie past

Like so many, Martelle is among the ranks of soap stars who have appeared in both Emmerdale and Coronation Street. In fact, down the years Martelle has had a number of roles in Coronation Street. Between 2018 and 2021, she appeared in the soap as a court clerk, Jasmine Ridgeway and last year was seen as Alison Wray.

Her role as a court clerk was during the trial of Anna Windass in 2018. Jasmine Ridgeway was a talent scout who tried to sign up Kirk Sutherland in May 2019. And, last year, Martelle played police family liaison officer who offered support after the murder of Seb Franklin.

Starring in Dominic Brunt film

You might not know that last year she had a starring role in a horror movie directed by co-star Dominic Brunt - who plays Paddy Kirk in Emmerdale. Speaking to Inside Soap, Martelle said: “I’ve worked with Dominic Brunt twice before. First in 2017, and then again at the beginning of 2021. I was in his horror movie called Evie.”

Others who appeared in Evie were Nicky Evans, who previously played Roy Glover in Emmerdale, as well as Michael Smiley who has had roles in Luther and Star Wars film Rogue One. Many Emmerdale fans know Dominic Brunt has a passion for all things horror. Dominic has previously directed Before Dawn and Attack of The Adult Babies.

Starstruck by Emmerdale icon

Martelle has admitted she's found herself a little star-struck by show icon Claire King who plays Kim Tate. Martelle said: “I was in the same scene as Claire King and I got a bit star-struck. I didn’t make a fuss, I held it in. But I rang my mum afterwards and said ‘I was on set with Kim Tate today’.”

Martelle has also spoken about some of her Emmerdale colleagues. She attended the same school as Karen Blick. While she sang the praises of Roxy Shahidi and Jonny McPherson.

“The funniest member of the cast by far is Roxy Shahidi,” said Martelle. She is hilarious. Roxy is a whirlwind of high and positive energy.”

Martelle added: Jonny McPherson is the person who I think is least like their character. Liam can come across as a bit boring but Jonny is not boring at all.”
