Emmerdale fans are set for a week of dramatic twists and turns as Marlon and Rhona’s wedding day looms.
Marlon’s stroke recovery has been a source of anguish for viewers in recent weeks as the ITV soap aired touching moments from the early days after when he could hardly communicate and Paddy ( Dominic Brunt ) was almost too afraid to visit him, to heart-warming scenes with April (Amelia Flanagan) after he came home for the first time,
As he struggled with the scary reality of his disabilities, Marlon over does it and lands himself back in hospital following a fall at his stag do, organised by the Dingle boys. With Marlon still in hospital, and his blood pressure sky high, it looks unlikely that he’s going to make it to the church on time to marry his fiancé.
Paddy desperately tries to lower his blood pressure with some deep breathing and visualisation relaxation techniques. But his attempts prove futile as Marlon’s BP is still too high when the nurse checks it. She tells him he’s at risk of having another stroke if he leaves and it’s not under control.
Ahead of the anxiety-inducing episode Mark Charnock, who plays Marlon, and Zoe Henry, who plays Rhona have teased some very dramatic twists as fans wait to see if he will make it down the aisle.
“Marlon’s a bit apprehensive. He’s been training to walk down the aisle. But the Dingle boys put on this stag night for him, and he overdoes it and falls over,” Mark told New magazine.
“Marlon’s stressed as they won’t discharge him because his blood pressure is so high,” Mark said, while Zoe revealed: “Vanessa doesn’t tell Rhona what’s happened. The girls try and divert or delay her – hiding the rings, telling Rhona she’s got too much makeup on. Rhona is blissfully unaware.”
The nail-biter of an episode is set to show some action shots as Mark explains that just as it looks as though Marlon is not going to make it, Paddy flies down the street with a souped-up wheelchair, skidding around the corners.
Zoe explained: “They burst in through the church doors just at the right moment. It’s quite an entrance and very emotional!”
Rhona is seen in a stunning 1950s-inspired simple dress with an incredible vintage headdress as the pair finally get to their nuptials.
But will it be happily every after for the loved-up pair?
Zoe told the publication: “I certainly hope so! Marlon had a way to go but Rhona has his back.”
And Mark teased: “Hopefully this’ll be fifth time lucky for Marlon. But this is Emmerdale. They’ve been through so much and all the ingredients are there.”
