Emmerdale actor Lewis Cope has teased Nicky's mum could arrive - amid a horror attack on Caleb Miligan.
As viewers, we know very little about Caleb and Nicky's backstory. We know they are related to Frank Tate and Caleb has been on a one man mission to bring Frank's former wife Kim Tate down after holding her responsible for his death.
Nicky had been dragged by Caleb into going with the plan, trying to do it to support his mum, who is believed to be at risk of losing her home. However, we have yet to meet her - but viewers could see her very soon.
Caleb was rumbled by Kim Tate last week, with the businesswoman finally working out his plan and bringing him down as everything fell apart when Nicky told Gabby he couldn't go through with their wedding because he was gay.
It kicked off a chain of events, with Caleb planning to syphon the money out of Kim's bank accounts during the wedding, but after Nicky's decision to step away from the wedding, he had to change his plan - and thus was caught.
Actor Lewis Cope would love to see Nicky's mum arrive in the Dales, but what could that mean for her ex Caleb?
Speaking exclusively to The Mirror about the potential of his character's mum's arrival, he said: "It would be nice to see Nicky's mum to come into the show because she's been such a pivotal point in the storyline. The only reason Nicky goes along with all of this is to give his mum a better life so it would be nice to introduce her and see the relationship there I think."
Before the drama of the wedding, Lewis was keen for Nicky to stay permanently on the ITV soap.
"I don't know where Nicky goes from here when the secret inevitably comes out, although I'd like for him to stick around in the village. Despite Nicky's faults, no one's hit me in public yet," he told Inside Soap magazine, "Nicky's not a bad person at all. I think he cares a lot about Gabby. I think if she knew the truth, he could be her gay best friend!"
Lewis previously opened up about the massive betrayal Caleb feels because of his son.
"From day one, he's been dragged along by his father. He's always just gone along with it and this gets to the point where it gets super serious and he has to marry someone he doesn't want to be with," he told us.
"At the last hurdle, in Nicky's dad's eyes, he absolutely falls and crumbles and shatters the plan," Lewis went on to explain about what this might mean going forward, "So that is going to take a lot for Caleb to get over. For months of planning in the making, for Nicky to just take that away from him in one moment, he's not going to take to that kindly."
