Emmerdale's legendary Terry Woods to star alongside former Coronation Street star in new play

Emmerdale has had a lot of legends down the years and undoubtedly the character of Terry Woods fits in that lofty position.

Terry Woods, played by Billy Hartman, 65, first appeared in the village back in 1995. During his time in the Dales, the character, was part of some huge storylines including his affair with Viv, a stroke and his turbulent relationship with Dawn Hope.

He was one of the longest-serving characters in the soap before he was killed off alongside Viv Hope, played by Deena Payne, in early 2011. Terry died attempting to rescue Viv from the burning post office. Many Emmerdale fans rank him in the list of the soap’s greatest ever characters.

After leaving Emmerdale, acting star Billy, has enjoyed roles in Casualty and Keeping Faith. Most recently, Billy has appeared in the drama Dal Y Mellt while he’s also had a number of theatre roles.

In his latest, fans can catch Billy in Rebus: A Game Called Malice at the Queen’s Theatre in Hornchurch. A description of the production, inspired by Sir Ian Rankin, states: “A splendid dinner party concludes with a game created by the hostess. A murder in a stately home needs to be solved. Suspects, clues and red herrings await.

"But the dinner-party guests have secrets of their own, threatened by the very game they are playing. And among them is Inspector John Rebus. True crime is his calling – is he playing an alternative game, one to which only he knows the rules?”
