Emmerdale's Fiona Wade's famous co-star husband and how love blossomed on ITV soap

Emmerdale actress Fiona Wade’s character Priya Sharma has been involved in a number of dramatic storylines and has faced her fair share of heartbreak over the years.

From Cain Dingle to David Metcalfe, Priya's love life has not been the most successful on the soap. However Fiona is worlds apart from her character when it comes to her love life as she is happily married to husband Simon Cotton.

The couple are just one example of a real-life romance to develop from working on the ITV soap and will soon celebrate their three-year wedding anniversary.

Emmerdale fans may recognise him after he appeared on the soap back in 2017. During his time on the show he was involved in a number of drama-filled storylines. He played the role of Home Farm client Hugh Bryant.

His character didn't hang around the Dales for too long, but Hugh did share one scene with Priya and this was enough to make a long-lasting impact on Fiona.

Fiona previously said that after filming their one scene together, her friend Dana suggested she and Simon go for dinner together and this was the foundation of their romance.

While rumours swirled that the pair had taken to their friendship to the next level, Fiona waited until July 2018 to confirm their relationship when they went public with a loved-up snap on Instagram.

Love quickly blossomed between the pair, as less than a year later they announced they were engaged. Simon made sure to make the proposal as sentimental as possible as he decision to proposed at his other half's family home, where she grew up as it reminded her of happy memories with her late father, who sadly passed away from cancer.

The couple tied the knot in November 2019 and it was a star-studded affair, with Emmerdale stars such as Michelle Hardwick, Chris Bisson, Charley Webb and Matthew Wolfenden all in attendance for the special day.

When it comes to children the pair don’t have any however Fiona has made no secret of their plans to start a family one day in the future. She said she is "very excited" for that part of their life and are hopeful it happens, so to "watch this space."
