Emmerdale's Dominic Brunt set for another huge career step after soap chop fears

Emmerdale legend Dominic Brunt is set to enjoy another step in his career having previously spoken about his fears for his soap future.

Dominic Brunt, 52, has played Emmerdale favourite Paddy Kirk for 25 years and he is one of the soap’s best-loved characters. Away from the soap, some fans might be surprised to know of his other career.

Dominic is a massive horror film buff and has directed flicks in the genre. His latest movie Wolf Manor is a werewolf film which the Emmerdale star has been screening for audiences all over.

This weekend, fans will be able to see the flick at a special screening of Wolf Manor in Manchester. Posting on Twitter, Dominic said: “Our next festival of the season is the @BFI screening at The Odeon Manchester on Saturday, November 19 at 11.30am as part of @grimmfest Monsters & Movies weekend. Come and say ‘hi’ if you’re in the area. I’ll buy you a pint.”

Dominic has previously helmed Attack of The Adult Babies and Evie among other flicks. The Emmerdale actor honing his skills as a director is probably no bad thing given his previous comments on the unpredictable life of a soap actor.

“If I was to go tomorrow though, I wouldn’t complain because I’ve had 25 amazing years – but long may it continue,” Dominic said. “I absolutely love that job to pieces. I can’t explain to you what it means to me.”

We’ve seen Paddy involved in his fair share of major storylines - including lots of ups and downs in love. He’s made a host of fans from Emmerdale’s millions of viewers.

“I saw a picture the other day for the 25th anniversary and I’m in the picture, and I just think ‘oh my god, 25 years ago?’ It feels like seven,” Dominic explained. “Your life just flashes along so quickly, but I’ve been so lucky.

“God knows how many bullets I’ve dodged in that. I’m just so grateful that they’re still writing for us and trusting us with these storylines.”

Dominic’s comments are quite timely, as we’ve seen a lot of Emmerdale characters killed off in recent weeks as part of the soap’s 50th anniversary. The tissues have been at the ready as viewers have said goodbye to Faith Dingle, Harriet Finch and Liv Flaherty.
