At the National Television Awards, the cast and crew of Emmerdale celebrated their big anniversary with several wins, including Best Serial Drama but Claire was unable to make the ceremony and instead watched the show at home.
Alison went straight in and said: “50 years on Sunday and there will be this amazing episode. You’ve been part of it for 30 years - is it an honour to be still part of it and that they are featuring your wedding as part of the big episode on Sunday.”
Kim joked: “It’s not just an honour but I’m just shocked that I’m still here.” She continued: “It’s a complete honour and it’s great to be one of the central characters within the whole storm episode.”
Alison asked: “What do you love about your character and what do you love about her the most?”
Claire revealed: “I mean I’ve had some great storylines, I get some good one-liners. She’s camp as Christmas, as you’ll see in the wedding on Sunday.”
She continued: “I have to defend her because I think she is just very straight forward and not the b word - I think she is just honest.”
Claire also spoke of her excitement for the scenes and revealed how she recreated a scene from her very first episode on the soap.
