Emmerdale's Chas 'gets comeuppance' for affair after Paddy grows suspicious

Emmerdale’s Chas Dingle is set to receive her ‘comeuppance’ in the wake of her affair with the late Al Chapman as husband Paddy becomes suspicious in upcoming scenes.

Chas has been left struggling to keep it together after Al’s shock murder in scenes last week, after he became locked in a fistfight with Cain Dingle in a barn on the outskirts of Emmerdale.

Cain had finally learnt of his sister's affair with his arch enemy following some clever sleuthing, but it all ended in disaster – and the major twist was that it was his son Kyle who pulled the trigger.

Cain is now in jail having pleaded guilty to causing Al’s death, while Chas is forced to mourn Al in silence and try to cover the tracks of her affair.

This Morning presenter Sharon Marshall sat down with hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Scofield for a soap gossip segment, teasing what fans can expect to come.

The ITV daytime programme played an upcoming clip of Chas on the soap, in which she can be seen making a desperate unanswered phone call to Moira, to try and feel out what he has been saying in jail, since he knows of the affair.

Later in the clip, Paddy walks in and is seen suspiciously asking Chasabout her tossing and turning through the night.

He added at the end in an ominous moment: “It just seems to have got worse since Cain’s plea and the phone call.”

After the clip, Sharon said in the studio of Chas: “People have been screaming at her. She’s getting so much grief on Twitter, the poor actress. Which shows it is working and people are invested in the story.”

She went on to note that Chas is ‘getting her comeuppance now’, adding: “She can’t tell anyone she’s had the affair.

“She can’t go to the funeral for Al. She’s trying to comfort Kerry. But secrets in soapland, can they stay secret?

“You can see that Paddy starts to get more and more suspicious. Why is she so grief-stricken? Will things come out? Will her life get even worse?”

This comes as ITV spoilers have teased further fallout from the shock murder of Al, as Chas is left struggling to keep it together in the village.

The storyline kicks off as Chas is left thrown when Kerry reveals Al’s funeral is to take place the following day, asking if she’ll consider accompanying her.

The following day, Kerry is understanding when Chas explains she needs to attend Liv’s send off instead of Al’s funeral.

As Vinny shakily opens Liv’s urn, ready to let her go, Chas is wracked with grief as she pushes Paddy away.

Could the truth of Chas and Al’s affair be on the verge of being revealed to all?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV.
