Emmerdale's Chas Dingle star issues verdict on ITV show future

Emmerdale's Lucy Pargeter has issued a verdict on her show future.

The 46-year-old is renowned for her role as Chas Dingle in the fictional Yorkshire village. The soap star joined the ITV show in 2002 and continues to be a key character in the programme.

She has been central to a key storyline after she had an affair with Al Chapman on the show. Her husband, Paddy, was distraught after he found out and this triggered his spiral into a depression.

Lucy took to Twitter last night to host a question and answer session with fans with fans as she said: "I’m often amazed by people’s views and misconceptions of all aspects of my job and lifestyle. I guess this is mostly down to the things they read and see . If you wanted to ask one question, what would it be ? Keep it clean and no abuse please, I’m genuinely interested."

One fan questioned if Lucy harboured any thoughts of bringing her 21 year stint on the Dales to an end. Claire asked: "Just wondered how come you've stayed in Emmerdale for so long don't you ever want to try anything else (though you are my favourite actress) I don't mean anything by this just genuinely interested."

Lucy reassured fans as she revealed she is happier than ever on Emmerdale and plans to stay for the foreseeable. She said: "My life is here and my job always keeps me on my toes. Until the day that they kill Chas off or I feel that I’m only there to pay my bills, Chas will be part of village life."
