Emmerdale star Charlotte Bellamy has opened up about the storyline soap bosses rejected.
Charlotte Bellamy, 49, who has played Laurel Thomas in Emmerdale since 2002, has told Inside Soap she’s only ever pitched bosses one storyline. Unfortunately, it was turned down by writers.
“The only story I've ever tried to pitch to the writers was years ago, when we were all working in the factory,” Charlotte said. “I pitched a story about a group of women becoming addicted to gambling, which is actually really common.”

Charlotte said the storyline got rejected as it didn’t fit with the soap’s ongoing plots and seemingly it has yet to be revisited. She said: “I thought as a collective of women desperate to make a living that would be quite interesting.”
Charlotte added: “It never got through, but as actors we don't see the bigger picture and what other stories are going on. It's all about the timing.”
