Emmerdale's Amy Nuttall in Strictly Come Dancing talks following Helen Skelton inspiration

Former Emmerdale Amy Nuttall looks likely to take inspiration from Helen Skelton with the acting star being lined up to appear on Strictly.

Amy Nuttall, 40, rose to fame playing Chloe Atkinson on Emmerdale between 2000 and 2005. She was later cast as Ethel Parks in Downton Abbey, appearing in the role from 2011 to 2012.

As our colleagues at The Mirror report, Amy has endured a difficult few months. She was said to have been left heartbroken after her husband, actor Andrew Buchan, 44, left their home over the festive period.

It was reported last month that since leaving the family home, Andrew has started a romance with his Better co-star Leila Farzad, 40. The BBC drama Better has been filmed across Leeds.

The Sun suggest Amy is in talks to appear in this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing. Amy is looking for a ‘fresh start’ and may take inspiration from TV presenter Helen Skelton, 39.

She competed in last year’s run of Strictly following her split from rugby star husband Richie Myler, 32. A source told the Sun: "Amy has been left broken by Andrew's actions and feels humiliated by the whole ordeal. She wants to move on and not let the messy break-up define her."

The source added: "Strictly would be the perfect way for her to do that and hopefully restore the confidence she is lacking right now."
