Emmerdale newcomer Karene Peter confirms first village romance for Naomi

Emmerdale newcomer Naomi has certainly made an impact in the village since she arrived looking for her biological dad, Charles (Kevin Mathurin), and brother Ethan Anderson (Emile John).

However, now she has settled in to her new life in the Dales viewers will see her attention switch from her family to a new potential love interest in the form of Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter).

Nate has had a rough time of late following the departure of his ex-girlfriend Tracy and baby Frankie, but there could be light at the end of the tunnel for Nate, who after hearing that Tracy has moved on, finds himself falling for Naomi.

Actress Karene Peter, who plays Naomi, explains: "Naomi is super confident and super flirty when it comes to Nate and hasn’t wasted any time with him whatsoever. So, I think it’s more of a question of is he falling for her, and I think the answer is yes. But they do get along and they hit it off very quickly.

"I think Nate really enjoys her confidence and I think when they get to know each other it transpires that they have similarities in their displacement within their families. They’ve got a bit of common ground that they can build from. They get along on a friendly level as well, which is great."

However, the honey moon period will be short lived as it's already been confirmed by Emmerdale bosses that Tracy is set to make a dramatic return to the village as part of the soaps 50th anniversary celebrations.

The character of Tracy left the village at the start of 2022 to take on a new job in Nottingham as acting star, Amy Walsh, has been on maternity leave after welcoming her first child, it is not yet known whether a full-time return is in the works for her character.

The ITV soap confirmed that Aaron Dingle, Diane Sugden and Tracy Metcalfe will all make a brief return for storylines later this year, teasing a "huge" story ahead for one of the three and our bets are on Tracy.

Speaking to Yorkshire Live and other press producers Jane Hudson and Kate Brooks spilled the beans on the returning characters as they discussed what the plans mean for the villagers.

Producer Kate Brooks said: “Diane, Aaron and Tracey will all be making a reappearance, all-be-it, on a temporary-basis. They will come back and be at the heart of some really big stories which will impact them and the lives of the characters they leave behind.”

Jane Hudson, Emmerdale's chief executive producer added: “We’ve got Dianne, Aaron and Tracey, who is coming back with a bit of news of her own, and how is Nate going to respond."
