Sharon Marshall has announced her exit from Emmerdale after working behind the scenes on the soap for over half a decade.
The screenwriter, who is known for her jaw-dropping storylines, left fans stunned as she took to social media as she explained she will miss her fellow colleagues on the ITV programme.
Sharon, 51, is best known for sharing her soap knowledge on the lunchtime magazine programme This Morning but fans were left very upset as they bid farewell to her.
Taking to her Twitter page, Sharon announced that her last episode of the show aired on Friday (January 20).
Sharing a snap of herself posing outside the famous Woolpack public house, Sharon penned: "My last Emmerdale is on tonight at 7.30pm.
"Off to writing pastures new now but it's been an absolute joy and privilege to play in the Dales for six years. I'll hugely miss the fabulous team," alongside a heart and sheep emoji.
Sharing their messages of support, fans flocked to the replies section with one penning: "I've said it before but you are one of my fave writers for the show. So, wherever you go next you'll have an audience (even if it's just me and the wife in Canadialand, haha). Thanks for all the great words, laughs and heartache. Can't wait to see what you do next."
"All the best with whatever you go onto next. You'll be a miss in the Dales," said a second.
Before a third went on to write: "And what an amazing storyline to end on with great lines to complete your final episode and Emmerdale writing. Wishing you the very best for the future."
Another typed: "You are an awesome writer, most of my favourite episodes were yours. Thank you. Best of luck in the future!"
"You'll be missed, lots of love and luck in your new adventures," gushed Emmerdale actress Samantha Giles.
Away from her work on the ITV programme, Sharon has previously written for rival soap, BBC's EastEnders and was responsible for the return of Sharon Watts (played by Letitia Dean) in 2012.
Sharon joined Emmerdale in 2015, announcing her career venture while appearing on This Morning, telling viewers: "I actually moved over to Emmerdale in the summer - secretly because we work so far in advance.
"I've loved my time [on EastEnders]. Linda's hen night is a big, fun episode."
She went on to say: "I can't wait for you to see all the stories we've got coming up there.
"It's tremendously exciting and I can't wait to get stuck in."
