Fans of Emmerdale were heartbroken as Paddy Kirk said his goodbyes in tonight's episode.
Viewers watched on as the ITV soap character, played by Dominic Brunt, went around the village giving heartfelt messages to his nearest as dearest. He returned to the village for a short stint after previously disappearing while he battled with his mental health.
He had been suffering with depression since finding out his wife, Chas, had been having an affair with Al Chapman. But it seems the world was still laying heavy on his shoulders as tonight's episode saw him leave a note for his dad, Bear - a suicide note.

Fans watched in horror as they realised what was happening. They stressed over never seeing the character again as he disappeared once more.
But what do the soap bosses actually have in store for the character? Here is everything you need to know.
Does Paddy Kirk die in Emmerdale?
With Paddy saying his final, heart wrenching goodbyes to all of his loved ones, many fans are convinced it is the end of the line for him. Luckily, he will be found by Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock).
Although he is found in a field with a gun in his hand, wanting to end it all, Marlon manages to persuade Paddy to return to the village unscathed. But his battle doesn't end there and he continues to struggle with his mental health.
Is actor Dominic Brunt leaving Emmerdale?
Dominic had to step away from the project to ensure his own mental health was in check, admitting he understood why Paddy spiralled given so many men "suffer in silence." The actor said: "I couldn't let myself even open a little door to the Black dogs that these people experience.
"The journey there and the curve was so clear that it was almost easy to do. However, the emotion that you had to visit had to be shaken off almost immediately.
"And I felt supported. But I've got an hour's drive home. I get the radio back on and make sure I get some sleep that night and I'm not suffering like that. I'm a stupid actor with the script in the hand.
"It didn't touch the sides for me and because I know what it's like for someone to really, really go through that. So yes, I felt fine. Sorry, that was a long way around answering that question. But yeah, I'm fine."
Emmerdale worked closely with the Samaritans and men’s suicide prevention charity Andy’s Man Club in order to tell this story as authentically as possible.
