Emmerdale fans 'work out' heartbreaking reason why Paddy Kirk returned to village

Emmerdale fans think they have figured out the heartbreaking reason for Paddy Kirk's return to the village.

Paddy was left devastated after finding out his wife Chas Dingle had had an affair with Al Chapman. Matters were made worse when he realised she had planned on leaving him for a new life with her lover had he not been fatally shot by her nephew Kyle Winchester.

For weeks, viewers had to watch as Paddy struggled with his mental health, often lashing out at his ex partner and those around him. At one point he decides to leave the village without telling anyone where he was going.

A huge search was launched, prompting Paddy to eventually call to tell his dad that he wanted them to stop looking for him. During tonight's episode, Paddy returned to Emmerdale but viewers worry that his storyline won't have a happy ending and that he only returned to say goodbye to his daughter.

@Onelifee3 wrote on Twitter: "Paddy is putting on a act."

@JamieTVandNews commented: "Paddy back with a smile on his face because he's decided to end it all. Which is pretty upsetting."

@itzzzo_ said: "Paddy will be just putting on a front for Eve's sake."

@dcauth tweeted: "Maybe he'll say bye to Eve, at least."

And @Chris1968E said: "Paddy back to say his goodbyes."

It comes after Emmerdale announced it would be airing a special episode featuring an ensemble cast of only male actors to highlight men's mental health issues. On March 10, Marlon Dingle will set up a late night lock-in at the Emmerdale Woolpack, with one thing on the agenda: men talking to each other.
