Emmerdale fans 'work out' exactly how Meena will avoid jail

Tuesday's instalment of Emmerdale left viewers with a theory that Meena would be found not guilty of her despicable crimes.

Soap fans came up with a theory as to how the killer nurse would walk free as her sister crumbled under the pressure of Ethan's questions. Manpreet asked Ethan to give her a practise run ahead of her actually standing up in court.

Ethan wasn't keen but after some persuasion he began to question her character. And he did not hold back.

He called her a hypocrite, said she had lied about her entire identity by changing her name. Ethan said she had hurt all of her loved ones with her actions.

As he kept firing harsh words at Manpreet, she begged him to "shut up" but he continued. When she finally broke down, he realised he had gone too far and stopped.

Ethan later apologised, and said: "I just wanted to give you some idea of what you'd be up against in court. Manpreet replied: "But did you have to go there? Or could you not resist? One last dig at what I did to you and your father."

Some viewers thought the outburst would see Meena walk free. Taking to Twitter, Michelle W said: "Manpreet is either gonna fall to bits in court or not even show and Meena's gonna go scot free #Emmerdale" [sic]

Luna Loco said: "If she can't cope with Ethan, she'll never cope with the real thing", while Stevebethere said: "Nurse Ratchett will get off scott free and Manpreet is [going to be] jailed for life".

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV and the ITV Hub
