Emmerdale's Charity Dingle refused to have anything to do with her new husband Mackenzie Boyd after he confessed baby Reuben was the result of a one-night stand with Chloe Harris.
However, since a DNA test has not been done to prove the paternity of the newborn, ITV soap fans are convinced Reuben's dad will be revealed to be someone else entirely in upcoming scenes.
In Wednesday's episode, a conversation between Charity (Emma Atkins) and Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) has led to some fans suspecting the farmer will be unveiled as Reuben's dad.
Nate attempted to comfort Charity but she hit back: "If you're looking for a deep and meaningful chat, forget about it."
"I just wanted to see how you're doing," Nate replied. "He was trying to spare you all of this. You two are like a jigsaw missing the final piece. You need each other."
As Charity continued to hear him out, he added: "I am not one with this soppy stuff, I have never seen a man more in love with his woman, you are his everything. Never say never, eh?
Charity was left in tears and later in the instalment Mackenzie tried to give his estranged wife her wedding ring back.
Despite her insisting their marriage was over earlier in the week, Mackenzie told Charity he wasn't going to give up on her.
Emmerdale fans have predicted Charity will end up forgiving the love rat and suspected Nate may have an ulterior motive for helping Mackenzie win back his wife.
One fan tweeted: "It’s going to all kick off when it turns out the father of Chloe’s baby is Nate. #Emmerdale," while another wrote: "Nate's the dad #emmerdale."
Other viewers suspected Charity will forgive her cheating husband over time as one remarked: "#Emmerdale Mack & charity will be back together you can be sure of it," and another said: ""I hope Charity isn’t thinking of forgiving this cheating k*** #Emmerdale." (sic)
Someone else simply commented: "Charity going soft #Emmerdale."
If Nate has spent the night with Chloe he may suspect he could be the father and continue to help Mackenzie but will Charity listen?
