Emmerdale fans were left highly suspicious of ITV soap newcomer Caleb Miligan as he made his highly anticipated debut on the soap on Christmas Day.
The Dingle newcomer came face to face with his siblings Cain ( Jeff Hordley ) and Chas (Lucy Pargeter) in the festive episode, leaving both shocked and not entirely over the moon at his appearance.
It's been revealed that Cain knows all about Caleb, having met him years ago in 1991 when they were teenagers – but he turned his brother away, and lied Faith had died.
Caleb is now back and he wants answers over why he was denied the chance to get to know his family.
Long-lost brother Caleb (Will Ash) arrived for visiting hours at the prison to see Cain, who quickly warned Caleb to stay away from his family – but he didn’t heed the warning.
Instead, he claimed he would get to know the Dingle family, as he had been falsely told that his mum Faith Dingle ( Sally Dexter ) had died 30 years ago.
With Cain behind bars, Caleb was free to introduce himself to the Dingle clan on the Dales – with many fans at home highly suspicious of his motives given that he’s arrived with a chip on his shoulder over his late mum, who died in emotional scenes at the soap’s 50th anniversary.
ITV viewers tuning into the Christmas episode were left concerned Caleb could even take revenge by growing close to Chas or wife Moira ( Natalie J Robb ) during Cain’s stint in prison – with some even speculating over an affair between the pair.
Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “ Emmerdale will Moira cheat with her hubby's brother,” as another chimed: “I'm a betting man. Caleb, will bed Bernice or Moria!”
Another wrote: “Something tells me Chas is going to make a new ally in this Caleb..”
Fellow fans were left highly suspicious over whether Caleb was indeed a member of the Dingle clan, as they noted Faith had never mentioned a secret son on her deathbed.
One wrote: “I wonder why it's taken so long for Caleb to write to Cain?” as another asked: “Why has Caleb never been mentioned ever before?”
A third wrote: “You’d have thought Faith would’ve mentioned Caleb before she passed?”
“Still think this long lost brother Caleb that's only known to Cain & that Faith never mentioned even on her death bed is just an afterthought that happens when you're desperate,” another fan penned.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV.
