Emmerdale fans believe they might have figured out Caleb Milligan’s mystery plot partner after he was seen having a worrying phone call.
ITV viewers watched as Caleb (William Ash) revealed an ulterior motive in the latest scenes on the soap as it wrapped up.
Caleb and brother Cain Dingle had seemed to iron things out in scenes on Thursday’s hour-long episode, after Cain thanked Caleb for supporting his son Kyle Winchester through the legal fight to get him out of prison.
Cain took the blame for the murder of Al Chapman and went to jail for months to protect his son Kyle, but the young boy soon confessed to the crime and has been embroiled in the legal system since.
Kyle was subsequently quizzed by police over the scenes in the barn on the outskirts of the village, but with the help of Caleb's pricey lawyers, Kyle was finally granted bail and could go to stay with his mum while they wait for the next steps of the process.
However, in the final scenes on the ITV soap, Caleb was seen taking a mystery phone call.
“We’re finally making headway," he said to the mysterious person on the other end of the phone.
He then added: “We keep reeling him in until we get exactly what we want.”
Emmerdale fans are now convinced they know who Caleb is working with as they prepare for him to double-cross Cain, likely after he arrived in the village upset he never got to know his mum Faith ( Sally Dexter ).
Emmerdale fans now think they have worked out who the mystery person on the phone call could be, with many pointing to similarly suspicious newcomer nanny Nicky (Lewis Cope).
Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: “Could Caleb have been talking to Nicky the Nanny on the phone? Reeling them in may be concerning Home Farm and not just Cain and Chas.”
A second speculated: “I think Caleb is working with Nicky. He’s still angry about Cain lying about Faith being dead and he is out for revenge.”
A third added: “Why do the credits only say "Nicky" and no surname? Is he Caleb's son (so a Dingle) and reconnaissance to get Home Farm?”
Another added: “My gut says Caleb and Nicky are working together.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV.
