Emmerdale fans have slammed Ellis Chapman's exit scene after the actor allegedly quit the ITV soap following a 'race row'.
Actor Aaron Anthony exited the soap in scenes airing last night, as Ellis rushed ahead with his plan to move to Australia after a friend offered him a job there. In his final scene, Ellis bid farewell to his brother Billy (Jay Kontzle).
In the scenes, he told his older brother: "I feel bad leaving you to close down the business by yourself.
"Natural ending little bro, don't worry about it," Billy replied back, keeping positive about the whole thing.
"You and Dawn will come though, yeah?" Ellis asked, as he referred to the pair heading Down Under for a post-wedding trip as he asked the soon-to-be newlyweds to send plenty of photos of their wedding - which is set to take place on Valentine's Day.
"I want loads of wedding photos, I want to feel like I'm there," he said.
Before he left, his former flame Priya made a surprise appearance to bid him goodbye.
"I love you, I always did," he told her, before Priya then went on to say: "You know I'm not going to beg you to miss your flight. You have to go, take every opportunity that's thrown at you."
However, fans of the ITV soap were left disappointed by his exit scenes, insisting the actor "deserves better".
"Seriously ... goodbye Elis gutted he had to leave in that way. I'll miss him, good actor too," one fan wrote.
A second added: "Ellis deserved so much better!" as a third wrote: "Farewell he is a great actor, I wish you the very best."
It is believed Aaron 'quit' the show after a race row behind-the-scenes of the ITV soap, involving Matthew Wolfenden and Isabel Hodgins - who play David and Victoria - and they stopped filming for a while whilst ITV looked into the claims.
It was alleged that the pair - who have since returned to the soap - 'mimicked' an actress' accent and then later Matthew rowed with co-star Aaron over the alleged incident.
An ITV spokesperson told The Mirror at the time: "While we would never comment on individual cases, Emmerdale has robust policies in place to deal with any allegations brought to our attention and take the appropriate steps."
