Emmerdale fans believe they have spotted a major plot hole after the love triangle between Laurel Thomas and her stepdaughter was revealed during Monday’s episode.
Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) has had a rocky love life in recent months after her romance with Jai Sharma ended, but she thought she had found love again on the ITV soap with newcomer Kit. But, fans learnt she grew close to physiotherapist Kit (Thoren Ferguson), only for him to turn his head to Gabby Thomas.
Kit and Laurel’s stepdaughter are now set to become romantically involved on the soap, as Kit two-times behind the Hide Café manager’s back.
However, eagle-eyed soap fans have been left sceptical by the storyline, as Gabby and Kit met for their first date on Monday and Laurel’s stepdaughter failed to recognise her new man.
Given the pair have both been seen out and about in the small town of Emmerdale, many fans were left dubious whether she would not know what Kit looks like yet.
Taking to Twitter after the scenes aired, one fan wrote: “Oh god, they’re really going to do a Laurel/Kit/Gabby storyline. I thought Gabby would have seen Laurel with him at this point, or at the very least know who he was, given he visits Marlon so frequently.”
Another wrote: “One moment. How has Gabby not seen 'Kit' loitering round the village,” as a third chimed: “Wouldn’t have Gabby seen Kit around the village?”
Another fan added: “How has Gabby not seen "chris" before? Surely they were in pub same time, or around before.”
The love triangle story came as Gabby ( Rosie Bentham ) was trying to find someone to share her life with after mainly focusing on her son Thomas and has thrown herself into the world of online dating.
However, swiping left and right proved to be trickier than she thought and she was almost at the point of giving up on the apps altogether – but that all changed when she got chatting to a mystery man called Chris.
The two quickly arranged a date – but Gabby had no idea that her date's real name is not Chris at all, but is actually Kit.
Completely unaware that he is the same man that Laurel is seeing, the pair were seen meeting for their date at the end of Monday night’s episode.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV.
