Emmerdale fans 'rumble' Jamie Tate's fate after surprise letter to Kim ahead of soap 50th

Emmerdale fans believe they have worked out Jamie Tate’s fate on the ITV soap after his mum Kim received an out-of-the-blue letter from the character.

The scenes came during Sunday’s delayed episode of the soap, when Kim welcomed granddaughter Millie back into her home after her dad had scarpered.

Later in the episode, Kim was surprised to see a letter had arrived with her address written in Jamie’s handwriting.

Opening the envelope, she found Jamie had enclosed a letter to be given to Millie on her 18th birthday and had also attached a note saying he planned to stay away.

This comes amid fan speculation the character could be returning for the 50th anniversary episodes of the soap – but viewers now think these could be dashed by the letter.

Taking to Twitter after the scenes aired, one fan wrote: “Thank god Jamie isn’t coming back. He’s a d***head.”

A second unsure fan posted: “So are they trying to tell us Jamie is gone for good or trying to lull people into a false sense of we give a toss.”

Meanwhile, other fans seemed divided and suggested a Jamie return could still be on the horizon, with one writing: “Kim giving up on Jamie she won't be doing that if he actually returns.”

A second said: “Jamie's handwriting. Jamie better come back or this storyline is pointless.”

This comes after Emmerdale fans were left suspicious of Hazel after she claimed she was pushed down the stairs to Jamie, finally telling his grieving mother Kim he's still alive.

In the scenes on Thursday, Kim finally found out the truth, as Jamie's own actions led to his true fate being exposed – and Hazel injured.

Kim was gutted when Hazel and her granddaughter failed to show up to their planned meet-up, only for some shocking news to lead to a further bombshell.

The character learned Hazel had suffered an accident, but nothing could prepare her for what she finds out as she learns Hazel was pushed down the stairs by Jamie.

Kim demanded answers and to know what Jamie had been up to and quickly picked up the phone to call the police and report Jamie.

But as Hazel explained the state of affairs, many Emmerdale fans smelled a rat and became suspicious she could be trying to pull one over on Kim.

Taking to Twitter, one fan said: “I think Kim is being played,” as another echoed: “So Jamie pushed her down the stairs, but then didn’t grab Millie and leave. V odd.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV.
