Emmerdale fans were left puzzled as Mackenzie Boyd appeared to 'return to the soap with no explanation'.
The character has been mainly absent from the soap for a while now, and in his last big scenes, he was seen leaving the Yorkshire village after falling out with Charity Dingle despite making a grand romantic gesture.
He has appeared a few times - but in very fleeting moments, so this is the first time he's been back in a huge scene.
However, fans seemed confused to have him back on the programme this evening, where he sat down with Charity for a long chat about her son Noah Dingle, who is facing police charges for stalking his ex Chloe Harris.
Puzzled viewers took to Twitter to admit they were unsure when he got back - and what he was doing back too.
"Mack pops up - he's a Mack-in-the-box #Emmerdale," one fan wrote.
A second added: "It’s big mack, where on earth has he been hiding again #Emmerdale," with a third writing: "When did Mack get back? #emmerdale." A fourth added: "i genuinely forgot mack existed lmao #emmerdale."
Mack actually returned to the village a couple of weeks ago after his exit in March.
He and Charity fell out when he swiped her keys, copied them and said he would move in with her. He was planning a "big grand gesture" to show her how serious he was about her - but he was less keen.
"It was actually kinda Vanessa's idea," Mack said at the time as he explained his decision to do so, "She thinks I need to get more serious, and you can't get more serious than moving in."
Charity was less keen about the idea and a dejected Mack told her she needed to decide or he would leave.
"It's crunch time, Charity, and I need to know where I stand. You either want to be with me, or you don't," he told her, before receiving an awkward answer from her and later deciding he should head away for some time to be alone.
