Emmerdale fans have been left emotional after Mary Goskirk opened up about her sexuality to Kim Tate.
Mary, who is Rhona's mum, revealed to Kim why she actually moved to the village and told her about the love between her and her neighbour Louise who tragically died on the Covid ward. She told Kim: “I moved here for three reasons - to fix things with my daughter, to make a fresh start and to use that fresh start to be more open about myself.
"It turns out that despite my boldest intentions, some things aren’t easy to say. I’ve never spoken my truth. Oh God, I said my truth, I hate that. There is not such thing as my truth, there is only the truth."
When Kim asked her what the truth was, Mary can be seen fighting back tears before saying: "I am gay." She then cries and laughs in relief before saying: "Oh my goodness, I've said it. It's only taken me my whole life."
Viewers said the scene between Kim and Mary was "beautiful" and "powerful" and praised the show for handling her coming out so sensitively. Many also said that Mary's storyline resonated with their own experiences.
