Al Chapman's final moments were played out in a special flashback episode of Emmerdale tonight.
The adulterer, played by Michael Wildman, exited the ITV soap last week after he and Cain Dingle, played by Jeff Hordley came to blows. Cain had discovered that Al had been having a sordid affair with his sister, Chas Dingle.
As a result he tracked him down to confront him but he wasn't alone as he went loaded up with a gun - and unbeknownst to him a little sidekick.

In a special episode tonight, flashbacks of the fateful night showed what really happened in the barn. Cain's son, Kyle, had seen his dad angry at the kitchen table, before following them into the barn.
He saw Cain and Al battling it out after coming to blows. The men were in a scuffle when young Kyle spotted the shotgun on the ground and made a grab for it.
He screamed: "Get away from my dad" as he aimed the weapon at Al. Panicked, Al said: "Just put the gun down, ok?" The two men let go of each other as they tried to talk Kyle into dropping the gun.
Cain pleaded: "Kyle listen to him. Put the gun down and go home now."
But, suddenly Al made a run towards the youngster causing him to jump back and the gun went off. Within an instant, Al hit the ground and blood poured out of him.
The episode cut back to the prison, where Cain said: "It was over in a flash. If I didn't try to grab that gun..."
Moira said: "If there was no gun!" The prisoner replied: "It was an accident, Kyle didn't mean to do it. You know what he's like. He's a gentle sweet kid, you wouldn't even know he was my son."
Fans on Twitter couldn't help but feel sorry for the little boy, who sobbed as he confessed all to his mum. One user said: "I feel sorry for the kid tbh, he saw his dad and wanted to protect him and that twat Al went towards him, I’d have pulled the fecking trigger too mainly because it was Al! #Emmerdale"
Kaz said: "Ah man this is hard to watch #Emmerdale." A third added: "I feel so sorry for Kyle #Emmerdale".
