One of Emmerdale's most disliked characters has left fans feeling rather emotional tonight, after a touching scene that "broke" some viewers. Though she is one of the least popular characters as of late, Chas Dingle left many fans in tears on Friday evening.
Following the sad passing of Faith, Chas took one last opportunity to spend some time with her mum - visiting the late matriarch as her body lay in bed. Earlier in the episode, Chas had told Aaron that she would "never forgive" herself, for spending Faith's last day with Al.
Tonight, Chas tried to redeem herself by sharing one last moment with her mum. As she opened the door to Faith's bedroom, she turned to see her mum in bed and, talking to her as if she was still alive, said: "What do you think you're playing at, eh? Sneaking off when I'm not looking.

"How is that even fair? There's still so much to say, so much to fight over." Chas then presented Faith's body with some lavender scented spa goodies, adding: "I got you these, lavender, your favourite."
Emmerdale fans were left heartbroken when Chas crawled into bed with Faith, begging her to come back to life. She sobbed: "Just talk to me, just talk to me mum. One last time, please? Please, please, please.
"Oh mum I'm here, I'm here, I'm here, I'm here, I've got you mum, I've got you. You're never too old for a hug mum, you're never too old for a hug. I love you".
And viewers were left in pieces over the touching scene, with many praising the fantastic acting from Chas actor, Lucy Pargeter. @crazycatgay02 said: "That faith and Chas scene just broke me". @TraylorHolmes said: "Heartbreaking scene from Chas. Great work Lucy". @Chloeeei38 said: "No chas is breaking me right now" [sic].
@ballumshouse said: "I'm not a fan of Chas, but her last scene with Faith was heartbreaking". And @BlondeMzungu said: "I’ve had a couple of drinks and just watched Chas trying to wake her dead mum up. I’m an absolute mess!"
However, it would not be an Emmerdale episode without some hate for Chas, who did not win over every viewer. Some felt that it was "too little, too late" for Chas to try and make amends with her mum, after spending many of her last days having an affair with Al.
@Yamusenghore said: "Too little too late Chas". @gemmaedwards91 said: "too late to start caring now chas you selfish selfish woman". And @fluffyhairben said: "I don’t have one bit of sadness or sympathy towards chas she’s been leaving faith nearly every day to go and cheat on her husband and now she wants to cry in her arms little too late".
@lincsbirder2019 said: "It’s not all about you Chas….I hope you feel really proud that while your mother was dying all you thought about was getting it off with that sleaze ball !!" And @LeedsSTUnited said: "A bit too late to start caring Chas. You had your chance".
