Emmerdale's Meena Jutla 'broke the fourth wall' of sorts in sinister scenes on the ITV soap on Thursday, as she spoke directly to viewers.
In the creepy and unexpected moment, serial killer Meena stared straight at the camera and spoke to viewers as if they were Charles Anderson.
As vicar Charles talked about "lost soul" Meena to Harriet Finch, admitting he went to visit her, she told him to be careful
Suddenly Meena was shown reading verses from the bible, as Charles shared his hopes of helping the killer in some way.
Meena continued to read, saying: "God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth.
"And they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil."
It's then that she reached out to Charles directly, but in doing so she stared straight into the camera lens as if to be making eye contact with the viewers watching at home.
She said: "Come to your senses Charles, escape the snare of the devil."
Meena then stared for a moment, with it clear she was up to her creepy tricks and trying to target Charles.
She had already told Charles about Liam pushing her off the bridge deliberately, despite him claiming it was self-defence.
Meena revealed her sister Manpreet Sharma, Charles' on/off lover, knew this and covered for him - leaving him stunned.
But as Meena got to work on hoping to convince Charles she wanted forgiveness, the creepy moment left fans spooked.
One fan wrote: "Omg that Meena ending has chilled my bones. Pure horror."
Another tweeted: "Looking down the camera from meena never seen that on # Emmerdale."
A third added: "Meena breaking the 4th wall.. creepy," as a fourth said: "Don’t look at me like that Meena, you’re scary."
The end of the extract, not read by Meena, says: "after being captured by him to do his will."
So does this allude to what Meena has planned, and is she trying to trick Charles into do her next move for her?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
