Emmerdale could be saying goodbye to one beloved villager later this year as they are set to be locked away behind bars for the rest of their life.
The soap is celebrating its big 50th anniversary later this year, and producers of the show have teased that one character is facing an ominous fate.
Producers of the ITV soap said that the soap's milestone birthday could come to a dramatic ending as a number of storylines are going to be wrapped up by the end of October.
And it looks like one unfortunate villager could end up being sentenced to life in jail.
Producer Jane Hudson told Express.co.uk : "When we get to the end of October, it might be the end of our celebrations, but we will be ending that month with a storyline which kicks off another big story, which potentially sees one of our characters spending the rest of their life in jail.
"I am not going to tell you anything else. We are making sure that when our celebration month ends, it's really just the beginning of a whole new chapter, particularly for one of our families."
It has not been confirmed which Emmerdale character will be put behind bars but there are a number of potential suspects.
Harriet Finch and Dawn Taylor could be in serious trouble as they are yet to face the consequences of killing DI Mark Malone two years ago.
Corrupt copper DI Mark Malone was a villain on the show and he featured in major scenes before being killed off in a twist.
He held Dawn Taylor against her will and tried to kill her with heroin as revenge against her dad Will Taylor, leading to a deadly showdown.
When former flame Harriet Finch hit him over the head, he tried to kill her too only for Dawn to shoot him multiple times, killing him.
Harriet, Will and Dawn covered up the crime before burying the body in a graveyard, before moving the corpse to the Home Farm estate.
So will DI Malone's body finally be uncovered?
Only time will tell.
* Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
