Emmerdale is set for some huge drama this Christmas after a year of turmoil for the residents.
In the Autumn, the ITV soap celebrated their 50th anniversary with a dramatic - and devastating - storm which saw a string of huge characters killed off. Liv Dingle died after she was trapped by a caravan moved in the wind whilst Faith Dingle died amid her cancer battle, leaving her son Cain Dingle and daughter Chas Dingle heartbroken.
Chas was also having an affair with Al Chapman before his shock death, after Kyle accidentally killed him when his dad Cain confronted the businessman. Cain is in prison after pleading guilty to murder to save his son.
And this Christmas is going to be just as dramatic for the residents, as we take a look at what's to come this festive season.
A Ch ristmas Day visitor
On Christmas Day, Cain is visited by his long lost brother Caleb, played by former Waterloo Road star Will Ash. The pair are instantly frosty with one another as they eye each other without saying a word.
He is stunned to find out Faith only recently died, as Caleb reveals Cain told him Faith had passed away over thirty years ago. Caleb confronts him over the lies and hits out at Cain for taking away his choice to get to know his family. Cain tells Caleb to stay away from them all and leave his family alone, especially amid Kyle's huge secret.
The next day, Cain prepares for Moira's prison visit and there is a flashback to 1991 to explain just what happened between Caleb and Cain. But how did their past unfold and why is Caleb back in the Dales?
Lonely at Christmas
Chas is left feeling lonely this Christmas - as the exposed affair affects her relationship with the Dingles. Given the cold shoulder by her family, she drops off some Christmas presents for the Dingles and a small birthday present for Belle. Belle and Mandy are clearly hostile towards her, which causes some difficult moments for them all.
Heading to the closed Woolpack and thinking she'll be alone, Chas is even more heartbroken when she finds Paddy and Eve are spending the festive day with Marlon and his family. It gets all too much for her and later, she quietly leaves with Faith's firework.
Heading to her daughter's grave, she reads out the card given to her by Faith before letting the firework off. Just then, a stranger approaches with some huge news. Chas is stunned - but what has she been told?
Marcus and Ethan threatened
Elsewhere, Marcus and Ethan are issued a chilling threat as they try to spread some good Christmas cheer. At the Andersons on Christmas Day, there's lots of excitement and positivity as Ethan takes the church PA system into the street and tries to boost the mood in the village with a big Christmas party on the street including disco lights.
However, Greg has other plans and he ruins the festive activities by threatening to bring Ethan’s reputation crumbling down if they don’t drop their complaint against him. Ethan confronts Greg after he review bombs Marcus' business.
What lengths will Greg go to to get his way - and are Ethan and Marcus in any danger?
*Emmerdale will air an hour long episode at 6pm on Christmas Day, and a 30 minute episode at 7pm on Boxing Day on ITV1.
