Emmerdale is set to be rocked by the arrival of Cain Dingle's long lost brother.
Cain - played by Jeff Hordley - is currently in prison after covering for his son Kyle Winchester, who killed Al Chapman in a shock storyline. Moira and Amy are working with Cain to protect Kyle from being linked to the manslaughter of the businessman.
However, things are set to turn even more chaotic in his world as his long lost brother - played by acclaimed actor Will Ash - arrives in the village and forces the tensions between warring Cain and Chas to get even worse.
Will is set to star as Caleb Miligan, a well connected, successful businessman but his unannounced arrrival causes chaos for the Dingle family as Caleb is armed with lots of difficult questions for Cain to answer.
It will make things even worse for Cain and Chas (Lucy Pargeter) - who are certainly not seeing eye to eye after Al's affair with Chas and his subsequent death - as it is revealed that Caleb's existence has been kept a secret from Chas since her teenage years.
Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw teased: "We are absolutely delighted to welcome Will Ash to the Village. It's fantastic to have such a high calibre and immensely talented actor join our wonderful team. Arriving on screen on Christmas Day, Caleb has to undoubtedly be the most unexpected and shocking Christmas gift Cain and Chas have ever received!
"Calm and in control, rich and successful, at first glance Caleb is everything his brother isn't, but will the pair find they have more in common than they thought? What secrets from the past will come back to haunt them and how will the rest of the family react when Caleb strolls into town? His arrival certainly promises to shake things up for the Dingles and make 2023 start off with a huge bang!"
Will - who is known for a string of TV roles including Christopher Mead in Waterloo Road and Steve Robinson in Clocking Off - shared his excitement at joining the ITV soap and teased the "fantastically complex" Caleb is ready to bring the drama.
"I'm thrilled to be joining such an iconic show. Emmerdale is packed full of fantastic actors and I'm really looking forward to working alongside them. Caleb is a fantastically complex character and I can’t wait to get stuck in," he said.
