Emmerdale cast members shed real tears as Marlon Dingle struggled to walk down the aisle to his bride Rhona Goskirk.
Marlon, played by Mark Charnock, has been in a wheelchair since having a stroke but, in moving scenes to be shown next week, he battles to get to his feet to say his vows.
Zoe Henry, 48, who plays Rhona, said: “We were in tears. It was brilliantly written and the emotion came naturally for both of us when it was needed.
“The storyline has been such a difficult watch. But the wedding shows the light.

Intense
“Stroke has affected lots of people, including my family, so it’s important we see the light. People need that. Soap reflects real life, but it also needs to bring a bit of joy.”
Charnock, 53, added: “There were intense stories going on in the same episode, so when I read it I found it relentlessly moving all the way through.”
Viewers are left on tenterhooks wondering if Marlon will even make it to the church when he ends up in hospital with high blood pressure after collapsing at his stag do.
This is Marlon’s fifth wedding and Rhona’s fourth.
And Zoe warned there is no guarantee they will live happily ever after. She joked: “Marlon is almost like Henry VIII, which doesn’t bode well for me as number five.”
