Emmerdale bosses reveal tragic storm fallout with prison twist and village changed forever

There will be tragedy and twists on Emmerdale later this year, in scenes to air after a deadly storm causes havoc in the village.

The show's bosses have promised catastrophic scenes in October, as the show celebrates its 50th anniversary.

But the drama and chaos won't stop there, with there set to be huge implications from the windstorm in the aftermath.

There's also hints at lives changing forever, and one family facing new struggles as a character could face a long stretch behind bars.

Speaking to The Mirror and other press, producers Jane Hudson and Kate Brooks teased there were devastating scenes ahead later this year, but that more heartache could follow in the fallout.

Jane told us: "As we start our brilliant month we will be focusing on our Faith storyline, which is a huge storyline for us at the moment.

"And then we will work our way into our storm week. And then, you know, when we get to the end of October it might be the end of our celebrations, but we will be ending that month with a storyline which kicks off a whole new story, and potentially sees one of our characters looking at spending the rest of their life in jail.

"I'm not going to tell you anything else about that story. Don't ask me because I will not tell you.

"But we are absolutely making sure that when our celebration month ends, it really is just the beginning of a whole new chapter particularly for one of our families."

Kate added: "As part of our big 50th Week, although there's a general month of celebrations, the big 50th week will focus on a massive storm that is going to rip through the village, and absolutely leave a massive trail of destruction in its wake.

"Some of our best loved villagers will be in peril. And it's safe to say that literally the village won't be the same after this, and it will never be the same again, because the impact this storm has on people's lives is just massive."

It comes as one cast member recently spilled to The Mirror that there couple be multiple deaths during the 50th anniversary.

Kevin Mathurin dropped the biggest hint yet that there will be a death on the show (ITV)

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror at The British Soap Awards 2022 in June, actor Kevin Mathurin dropped the biggest hint yet that there will be a death on the show.

Not only that but he teased there could be more than one fatality, as he confirmed his character Charles Anderson would be heavily involved in the fallout.

He said: "All I can say is Charles is going to have a lot of work to do, and he'll be going around checking on his parishioners, seeing if people are okay and there might be the odd funeral. I'll leave it at that, I think I've said too much already."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
