Emmerdale boss teases explosive storyline set to run into new year in storm fallout

Emmerdale is lining up an explosive new twist that will air at the end of October, and spur on stories leading into the new year.

No specific details have been revealed about the plot, other than that it concludes the show's big 50th anniversary - amid a time of "death and destruction".

Soap boss Jane Hudson told The Mirror and other press what was ahead in the coming weeks, with a devastating storm set to destroy the village and the lives of its residents.

As the huge stunt week approaches, Jane revealed there would be "tears" and heartache, but the big scenes wouldn't finish with this week in particular.

Instead, there will be plenty of drama in the fallout that follows the deadly storm, and an almighty bang will leave fans stunned when secret scenes play out as the month of October draws to a close.

It seems just as residents believe the worst is over, it has in fact only just begun - with the mystery twist set to lead the soap into the new year and beyond.

Jane said: "[The stunt week] is a rollercoaster of emotions, and there is a visual impact that will blow more than your socks off, put it that way.

"There's death, there's destruction but also real moments of intimacy, heartbreak and love. We're gonna see our characters tested not just by their physical strength, but their emotional strength as well.

"There’s gonna be a lot of tears, I must warn you about that, and we're gonna see our community have to deal with the aftermath of this horrific storm.

"The month has started with Aaron's return, we've got the Faith story coming up which is incredibly sad and then into our storm, which we've got more than one stunt across the week.

"And then when you just think things can't get any worse for our Emmerdale characters, they really, really do and we end the month on a really big bang that propels us well into the new year."

Jane remained coy over what the storyline is and who will be involved, with it also not yet clear who will survive the deadly storm.
