The true identity of Caleb Milligan on Emmerdale has had fans puzzled after bosses confirmed he is hiding a secret.
Caleb was introduced to viewers as the long lost brother of Cain Dingle, with him keen to connect with his sibling now he was in prison. The pair fell out years ago, and Caleb came back to quiz his brother on why he lied about Faith Dingle's death.
However, some fans of the ITV soap are convinced Caleb isn't who he said he is - and theories have so far included that he is an undercover police officer, related to other village residents or he's working to bring Kim Tate down.
The mystery about his real motives is still a much discussed topic, with show bosses keen not to reveal too much ahead of time as to spoil it for the viewers. Executive producer Jane Hudson has confirmed Caleb has a secret - but what is it and how will it all end?
Speaking in a video on the soap's YouTube page, Jane explained: "I think the other storyline that the viewers are absolutely going to love is Cain and Caleb. What's Caleb's involvement with Cain?
"Does he really want to be Cain's brother or has he got other ulterior motives? I think that's a fascinating dynamic to watch – and whenever we have Home Farm and the villagers coming together in a story, it's just not going to end well at all."
Actor Will Ash - who plays Caleb - previously revealed a little bit about Caleb's back story. He has been working with Kim Tate to help organise a horse breeding programme at Home Farm, but is his motive just to make money, or something else?
"Caleb has made a lot of money from horses, so he's got a lot of money. Caleb grew up in a care home and it was horrible. But there [were] stables across the field and he used to go up there. He found solace there," Will explained.
"As a really little kid, he used to ride the horses and work in the stables, and then started training them. He then started selling them, and he's made a lot of money. I mean a lot of money - he's got a really nice car!"
