Emmerdale and Coronation Street will have staggered starts following the World Cup coverage.
The drama in Emmerdale village never ends but viewers missed out on their daily dose after a switch up from ITV pulled an episode from its usual schedule. To make way for rolling coverage of the Qatar World Cup, fans of the show had to deal with a one-off soapless night.
Coronation Street also felt the impacts of the tournament as it too lost its usual evening slot. The last time both shows were pulled was to make way for the Queen's lying in state in September.

Emmerdale fans need not worry as ITV has promised a double helping of drama to make up for the change. Tonight and tomorrow's episodes will merge as one to create an hour-long special.
Coronation Street airs primarily on Monday, Wednesday and Friday but will see the start of this week's coverage begin on hump day. Tonight's episode will air on Wednesday (23rd), with that night's feature expected to follow on Thursday (24th). By Friday, both of the soaps will be back to their normal schedule and will run normally for the foreseeable future.
