Emmerdale's Marlon Dingle star has shared an emotional message to an ITV co-star following their "tough decision" to leave the broadcaster after decades working there.
Mark Charnock, who has played Dingle since 1996, wished to bid farewell to Duncan Wood, star of ITV News' Calendar.
The veteran broadcaster this week announced he had made the "tough decision" to leave the programme after 19 years.
Announcing his exit on Twitter, Duncan wrote: “It’s a wrap! Tough decision but one I’ve thought long and hard about. Thank you ITV for 32 rollercoaster years of live telly and to the amazing team ITV Calendar I shall miss you greatly!”
Of the many supportive messages to flood in, Mark's was one of the first, according to The Mirror.
He said: “Oh Duncan!!! You’re a legend. I’m sad to hear this, but I’m very glad to have known you all these years and I’ll miss bumping into you round the building.
“You’ve always been so kind and supportive as well as being outstanding at your job. Good luck in everything, fella x.”
Duncan replied: "Thanks so much Mark, it’s great to have worked alongside you and the Emmerdale gang, the best in the business. Hopefully catch up soon x.”
Other kind comments included a tribute shared by regional ITV News presenter Nick Smith. He wrote: “Sorry to see you go fella, and I know those across Yorkshire, Lincs and beyond will miss you dearly."
Head of News at ITV News Calendar, Mark Hayman said: "Duncan has made a huge contribution to television in the region covering the biggest stories of the last two decades. In addition to telling the day’s news his sense of fun and on-screen relationship with weather presenter Jon Mitchell have established him as a favourite with viewers.
"We are very sad that he has decided that it's time to leave us and we wish him the very best of luck in the future."
