The Washington Commanders have had some good injury luck through nine days of training camp. Unfortunately, Washington lost tight end Armani Rogers in May on the first day of OTAs, but the Commanders have remained relatively healthy since beginning camp.
On Friday, rookie first-round pick, cornerback Emmanuel Forbes, was battling star wide receiver Terry McLaurin in 7-on-7 drills and came up hobbling after one play.
Forbes went to the sideline, where the training staff checked on him, and then watched the remainder of practice with an ice pack on his left thigh. It didn’t appear too serious.
Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reported the following update after briefly speaking with Forbes.
Emmanuel Forbes walked off the field without the icepack on his leg. Spoke to some of us …
On how he feels:

Straight from the man himself. However, if Washington fans have learned anything over the years, players aren’t often the best at diagnosing the severity of their own injuries. Players want back on the field immediately and often downplay the injury.
After practice, head coach Ron Rivera confirmed it was a groin injury, and the Commanders do not believe it is anything serious, but there will be further evaluation.
“Emmanuel Forbes, they told me he tweaked his groin,” Rivera said. “They don’t expect it to be anything that should be keeping him out. He should be able to play this week, but again, they’re going to reevaluate, and we’ll let you guys know a little bit more on Sunday.”
The Commanders open the preseason next Friday against the Cleveland Browns.
Forbes is having an outstanding training camp, and missing any time with an injury would be a setback that Washington hopes doesn’t happen.
