Emma Raducanu fulfilled one of her life’s ambitions as she raced a Porsche around the track at Silverstone, and declared: “It was a blast”.
The 19-year-old from Bromley took the tennis world by storm when she won last year’s US Open - and showed off her driving skills behind the wheels of a 190mph sports car.
Raducanu posted video on Instagram of her taking a 911 Carerra S for a spin at the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone alongside Australian former Formula 1`driver Mark Webber.
The teen sensation is something of petrolhead, having raced go-karts and motocross as a child, and clearly relished her chance to drive one of the world’s fastest road cars.
“Project drifting + my favourite type of [doughnut emoji] silverstone was a blast,” she wrote in the post.
Raducanu, who is a brand ambassador for Porsche, said she found her ride “a lot of fun”.
“It is like playing a tennis match; learning where to push and how to work with the car to get the best results. My instructor Graham gave me lots of good advice. I learned a lot and am already looking forward to coming back”.

Webber, who competed in F1 from 2002 to 2013, said: “I have met many top sportspeople and their focus and determination to be the best they can be is always crystal clear.
“Those qualities were plain to see when Emma drove me in the 911 today, the same grit you see on the tennis court!”
Raducanu became the first qualifier in history to win a tennis Grand Slam when she won the US Open last September age just 18 with a sensational run of victories.
She is warming up to defend her title and will tomorrow take on another bucket-list challenge when she plays idol Serena Williams in the first round of the Cincinnati Masters.
