Emma Raducanu suffers injury scare as British No1 misses practice on eve of Wimbledon

Questions are to be asked of whether Emma Raducanu will be fit to play at Wimbledon.

The British No1, who reached the final at Queen’s Club a fortnight ago, has not played since then, with it being reported that she was seen in a protective boot on Wednesday.

Raducanu has long suffered with persistent injury problems, but she appeared to be at the top of her game in west London, before falling to lucky loser Donna Vekic in the final on Andy Murray Arena.

It is believed that Raducanu did not feel the need to play additional matches on the grass ahead of Wimbledon, and she decided against featuring at Nottingham, Berlin and Eastbourne, despite being on the entry list for the former.

She was pictured practising and wandering the grounds at the All England Club on Monday, but she was a no-show for her scheduled session on Thursday at 12pm, casting doubts over whether she would be able to play at her home Grand Slam.

The 23-year-old is thought to have been seen by a journalist in a medical boot, and her representatives have confirmed that the former US Open champion is managing a slight knock.

She was badly ill earlier this year, and missed over two months with a virus. She played just twice in the clay-court swing.

She recently rehired Andrew Richardson as her head coach, with Richardson guiding her to that fairytale title in New York back in 2021.
